Essentials
for Supervision

For aspiring, new, and
experienced supervisors.

The Athena Institute has developed a leadership program focused on five core attributes for effective leadership.

Prior to the first session, all participants will take the Clifton Strengths Finder assessment. The results of this assessment will be utilized during the program.

SESSION #1

LEADERSHIP STYLE

Explores participant’s approach to leadership based on the results of their assessment. This session also explores the topic of inclusive leadership, utilizing variables from Garter’s Inclusion Index.

SESSION #2

BUILDING TRUST & MOTIVATION

Explores the key components of building trust: ability, integrity and benevolence. Participants will apply the two types of motivation-extrinsic and intrinsic- to create strategies for motivating individuals and teams.

SESSION #3

COACHING FOR MAXIMUM PERFORMANCE

Explores two variables key to effective coaching: empathy and listening skills. In addition, participants will practice using the GROW model, a coaching strategy to define and achieve goals.

SESSION #4

POSITIVE CONFLICT

Participants will explore their mindset towards conflict and learn five conflict styles leading to positive, productive resolution.

Team Culture

For new and
established teams.

The Athena Institute has developed a Team Culture assessment and program focused on building a positive, productive team.

Prior to the program, team will complete the Team Culture Assessment focused on four variables. The results of this assessment will be utilized during each session of the program.

Strategies to create team identity through defining purpose, values and norms.

SESSION #2

TEAM TRUST

Strategies to enhance core attributes that lead to building a foundation of trust.

SESSION #3

TEAM COGNITION

Strategies for how team learns, communicates, and collaborates on various projects and responsibilities.

SESSION #4

TEAM RESILIENCE

Strategies for navigating challenge the team encounters.
